A Study on the Bed Operation Rate in General Hospitals


Abstract
The main purpose of this paper is to grasp the bed operation condition in general hospitals after implementation of the National Health Insurance in Korea. Results of this study will contribute to the efficiency of bed supply planning and optimum
allotment.
@ES The major findings of the analysis are summarized as follows:
@EN 1. The overall bed operation rate in general hospitals has been rapidly increased since implementation of the National Health Insurance. As a results, the operation level seems to be enhanced more than the optimum level
2. In the bed operation rate by region, the Kang-won tertiary care region and larger cities were very high, but the Chung-but tertiary care region and the rural were very low.
3. On the whole, as the bed size increased, the bed operation rate became higher. In gencral, the operation rate of private sector hospitals was higher than that of public sector ones.
